Walkabout Theatre

Mama Quilla

Published playwright Kay Adshead has developed 5 bespoke monologues to celebrate our Theatre’s history. During the day there will be pieces performed by Mama Quilla collective, and a 6th piece will be performed by a community group.

Free Acting/devising workshops at the People’s Palace – Mama Quilla and Alexandra Palace presents Histronics. Would you like to join up with award-wining theatre company Mama Quilla and devise and perform a short play in promenade at the Great Fete? Can you sing, dance, juggle, play a musical instrument? Or do you want to understand the process of devising performance, or just to try out acting for a few days? Do you want to help devise and NOT perform? Would you like to help with costumes? Histronics is six specially commissioned highly amusing micro-plays celebrating the reopening of the Victorian Theatre and inspired by its past.

We are looking for members of the community to create the 6th play, working with artistic director Kay Adshead. Ideally you would need to be available on the 15th and 16th August from 10 am to 6pm (timings flexible) and on August 18th from 10 am to 7 pm (exact performance time to be announced). Please e-mail info@mamaquilla.org for more details. We would love to have you on board.
